The First Step In The Application Process

All summer I have religiously checked to see if the TFA application was available. Not only was the application not available, but I could not find any dates implying that, maybe someday, the application would be there, shiny and new, just begging for me to fill out. So instead, I started to collect a series of websites and blogs all with tips to help best fill out the application.

I guess I should back up, TFA is an amazing opportunity that would essentially let me do what I want to do, teach in an "underprivileged" community with the added benefit of extra resources, a monetary bonus, and a reason to move out of state.

Well, anyways the application came out and I had two weeks, just two weeks to fill out the application that could change my life forever. One of those weeks was my last week of Club Simonds, possibly my last week there, ever. This is because if I get into my dream job, it would be practically impossible to return next summer. This fact made filling out the application during camp, well, not something that I could really handle. That is when my procrastination skills (that I have been refining for 17 years now) kicked in. I had three shifts at the JYC that I could have devoted to working on the application. The first day, I rewrote my resume. Good start.  Second day, well, I watched a movie. Not very helpful. Third day, I made a rug. Let me repeat that, I MADE A RUG! In what could that ever be beneficial to my application. "Skills: Rug making."

Right now, I only have one piece left, my letter of intent. I have to do it tonight because it is the night before I get all four wisdom teeth out so this is the last night that I can write it without serious pain meds. What am I doing instead? Watching Prison Break and creating this blog. Great.
